“Thanks for the Beach Memories” is an article from the Post, one that appeared on A1, no less, about people leaving notes in beach house guest books. Choice entries include:
We moved some furniture. We fixed the door. We couldn’t get the stain out of the rug.
We loved the food, the beach, the “dolfins,” and watching the cops close the public bathrooms on the boardwalk, but it was probably grandpa’s last vacation with us.
I’m embarrassed to admit that some friends and I stayed in a beach house several years ago and ended up leaving the following note in the guest book (I’m giving you this from memory, of course): “Loved the hot tub! Hot tub hot! Yay hot tub!”
I hope we didn’t sign our names.
